Frank Lampard enjoys to put pressure on himself to get the desired results

Chelsea coach, Frank Lampard says that this is the first time in his managerial career, he is facing a rough patch with his team. Chelsea had an impressive performance until the month of December when they had a long streak of unbeaten runs.

The month of December brought in some lethargic performance from the Blues and points dropped were accompanied by missing out on the golden chance to sit at the top of the league.

Chelsea collected just four points in the last four games where they even lost to Arsenal in a humiliating 3-1 defeat. Lampard acknowledges that and defined the managerial job as a changing phase where someday you win at a stretch and someday you lose at a stretch.

‘It’s not the first test like this,’ Lampard says as per the Official Chelsea website. ‘Last year there were many tests through the season from start to finish. There was when I first started, there was around Christmas last year when we went from seven wins back-to-back to a difficult time, and that’s the nature of the job when you’re coming into a team that’s young and changing.

‘You’re not going to go from zero to 100 so you have to be ready for those times. I think one of my strengths hopefully is never being too excited when we’re going well, I was trying to dampen flames after Leeds for instance when everyone was talking us up, and then my job is to not be too down when we have results go against us.

‘The first person that puts pressure on me is me,’ Lampard emphasizes. ‘I do that all the time for good or for bad so that doesn’t change much, but I’m not stupid, I know we need to get results.’

The coach is aware that his team always needs points to keep up with the opponents in the league. He started explaining that sometimes tweaking stuff is required when things are not working properly.

The coach says that he cannot sit idle thinking about just the poor result. rather he can learn from the mistakes and attempt to fix that in the following games.

‘It’s different from being a player to my job now because the pressure when you’re playing is very individual when it comes to aspects in your game – may be the opponent you’re up against in a game,’ Lampard explains.

Lampard also says that a certain strategy can deliver results at some point but again a minimal margin loss can even get you criticized as well. He even says that the pressure compared as a player is different as he will be responsible for the whole team in case of any wrong result.
