Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard has full faith in his striker, Timo Werner as he continues to work hard to get back to his scoring form for the Blues. That was the message that the coach Lampard delivered before the important match against Manchester City in the weekend and the year 2021’s first game.
Out of the last four matches, Chelsea has secured just four points and has been very disappointing in their display after a long fine unbeaten run in the league. The main crisis appeared when his two expensive high profile signing in the form of Kai Havertz and striker Timo Werner’s dip in form and lack of affecting the game.
The Blues has scored six in five matches while before that, they netted 12 in just five. Werner has been criticized individually from left and right due to his goal drought and miserable performance on the pitch. He has been on zero goals since the match against Sheffield United on November’s first week.
However, the coach wants to instill confidence in his striker by putting faith and belief in his talent. He said that is is not at all concerned and assured that the goals will come eventually. He even stated that a bad phase comes in the player’s life and it eventually goes away with the practice and perfecting technique.
‘Every player goes through tough times in front of goal and I always found that work at the training ground was the only way to turn that,’ explained the coach as per the Official Chelsea Website. ‘It’s about simple work, repetition of finishing, which Timo is doing now, and when you work like that then it’s a matter of time.
‘His natural attributes will get him in front of goal, get him away from defenders and get him those chances again. The beauty is that he’s been getting chances because that’s definitely a positive.
‘If his confidence is low from missing a couple, that’s only natural and it’s my job to help push him in a positive direction. I feel the goals will come.’
The German international scored lots of goals by bursting forward from the half-line directly into open space of the opponent’s ground using his tremendous pace.
