Manchester United’s legendary icon, Paul Scholes thinks that due to a lack of creativity in the middle of the pitch, Chelsea will be unable to challenge for the Premier League title this season. Scholes said these words to BT Sport as per Metro reports when Chelsea lost their second successive game in the Premier League with a scoreline 2-1 against Wolves.
Chelsea collapsed to a late injury goal as Neto struck when the Blues were busy going all out for a win. This recent loss makes them five points short of the joint League leaders- Tottenham and Liverpool.
Chelsea had a shaky start to the 2020-21 campaign but got hold of their momentum. They had a stretch of a long undefeated run as well as had clean sheets, which labeled them as one of the potential teams to win the title this season.
Frank Lampard has enough quality and depth in his squad and this is what makes them superior in this congested fixture.
“I just think there’s a little bit a lack of creativity on the pitch. [N’Golo] Kante does what he does brilliantly well and he’s got two young players next to him in Mason Mount and Kai Havertz, who I think will be sensational players, but that’s why I don’t think they’ll win the league this year,” Scholes said.
“It’s a bit early for them. They’ll be up there, close to Manchester City and Liverpool I just don’t think they are that ready,” he added.
However, Scholes believes that in the coming years, the Blues will be more than capable to win the title. Chelsea will face West Ham in their next fixture on Monday and will get the services of Hakim Ziyech and Hudson Odoi who have recently recovered from their respective injuries.
