Chelsea’s left-back, Ben Chilwell reflected on their 1-0 defeat against Everton and said it’s quite tough to get back to the game because of the way Everton plays.
Chilwell reflected on trailing by a goal in the first half and inability to change the scoreline although a few changes were made by the Chelsea coach. He felt that they did not do that much to get back into the game.
Reece James and Chilwell battled to get into the game- the wingers were very good at tracking them, and in general, Everton defended very nicely as a team.
‘The way Everton play, it is difficult to get back into the game,’ Chilwell said as he reflected on going behind midway through the first half. ‘We created a few chances but we did not do enough to get back into the game.
‘Me and Reece [James] struggled to get into the game, the wingers were good at tracking us and in general, Everton defended very well as a team,’ he said as per Chelsea’s Official website.
Ancelotti’s men knew that would not be the issue for sure as they had the back of their fans and it keeps them confident to keep the clean sheet. The lengthy the game went on, the tougher they knew it would be to score.
Chilwell assured that the defeat won’t affect the hopes of the club’s title challenge and will certainly make them learn.
‘We try not to listen to any of that,’ he said. ‘We are taking it a game at a time and we have a young squad, a lot of boys that are learning along the way.
‘It is still a relatively new group in terms of gelling together and although we were unbeaten for however many games, with the squad we have we want to win every match but we know the reality of it is that we are not going to win every match.
‘It is how we react now. We have to react on Tuesday away at Wolves and the next few days we will recover and pick ourselves up.’
The team tries not to hear any negative talks he exclaimed. They are taking it as a game at a time and they are having a youthful squad, a lot of boys that are understanding along the way.
