It seems like time is finally up for Oliver Giroud at Chelsea, a striker needs to move to find more games to maintain his place in France’s International Setup.
On Tuesday night, Giroud scored a brace to reach 44 international goals in a win against Sweden. He requires only eight goals to overtake Thierry Henry and to become the all-time record goalscorer of his nation.
However, in this campaign, Chelsea has seen Giroud featuring only thrice- almost every time coming from the bench and totalling only 33 minutes. While Didier Deschamps France’s manager has never lost faith in marksman but Frank Lampard has. The France coach has clearly asked Giroud to make a move in order to get in the starting XI of the upcoming Euros.
So, he is determined to find more gaming time and looking to move to some other clubs. It will be a great opportunity for Giroud to utilize that time to enhance his game so that he can secure his spot in summer’s European Championship.
5. Inter Miami
David Beckham’s Inter Miami has targeted Olivier Giroud to sign him in the coming transfer period. It is an enticing project, there is no doubt in it – I mean, “living in Miami on a likely massive wage” who will not like it?
But, at this moment, the France Striker isn’t looking to get settled. Blaise Matuidi is his fellow World Cup winner, in August he made the switch to Miami and since he has not been seen anywhere near Deschamps’ squad.
So, if Oliver Giroud wants his name to cement in the 23 man list come this summer then he has to sacrifice MLS.
4. Lyon
Lyon boss Rudi Garcia will be very excited to get Giroud. Memphis Depay’s exit looking all but certain, in Lyon there is an opening for a forward.
While Lyon is not competing in Europe at all, Giroud will guarantee to bag plenty of goals in a team bustling with creativity. The appreciations of Leo Dubois, Hashem Aouar and Rayan Cherki are certain to create chances and Giroud will take them for sure.
However, stating that performing in Europe or the competitive Premier League is a huge one for Deschamps in his selection procedure.
3. Inter Milan
Giroud has been a prime target of Antonio Conte’s Inter since January and seems the most realistic destination for him on paper.
The Nerazzurri are the most probably on the list to be able to take his wage on board and no doubt he will be happier stomping ground than Stamford Bridge the striker.
There is yet a concern of playing time on the inter side. Romelu Lukaku is the one who continues to prove himself as one of the greatest frontmen in chappal, word, football, while Lautaro Martinez is the finest partner for a Belgian.
Although Conte has played two upfront rather than Frank Lampard’s one at Chelsea, Giroud will still be the third choice – something that his international manager has advised him to improve.
2. Napoli
Napoli is staying in the market for striking like Arkadiusz Milik looks to be on his way out. It leaves you in Gennaro Gattuso with just record victor Osimhen as an out and out very first-team striker, as Fernando LIonerete remains out of favor.
Giroud has a link with the Serie A side and while the striker would likely play the second fiddle to Osimhen, he can no doubt challenge. There would be a creative unit of Lorenzo Insigne, Herving Lozano and Dries Mertens.
The French International has more ability than forming a prolific partnership with quick, creative players such as Eden Hazard would confirm. He can utilize the Europa League as a stage to perform and it will help him in securing his spot for France.
1. West Ham United
Giroud could have the Premier League lifeline and if it will be provided by The Hammers. David Moyes had very difficulty in finding a talisman at the club and Sebastian Haller doesn’t look like a solution.
There is no secret that the Frenchman can score and with the likes of Benrahma, Jarrod Bowen and along with him, to make Hammers a force, he could apply it to his game.
Shifting to West Ham Would, of course, Giroud should be allowed to skip the hassle of moving house and leaving London that he loves the most. But the important thing is, he should get platforms to perform at higher levels and maintain his international role.
