German winger Kai Havertz aims to become the new Frank Lampard of Chelsea

Kai Havertz seems eager to be able to recreate the magic of Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge. He preferred to make a move to Chelsea this summer because of the club’s idea and vision.

The German professional repositioned to Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen after a £71 million agreement in September. However, there was already a capable midfielder that was noted by Bayern Munich but he denied the offers.

He was rated as one of the finest young contenders in the Bundesliga. The 21-year-old, however, confesses that he got persuaded by Chelsea’s purposes and intentions to win the Premier League title, withholding to a young attacking side.

Havertz also attributes that his main interest to join Stamford Bridge was as a result of Chelsea’s legend Frank Lampard. The prospect of learning from a legend was one of the main factors in his decision to join the Blues. The German international was always fond of the scoring threat that Lampard possessed during his footballing years in Blues.

‘The fact that he was so successful and at the same time so personable impresses me.’

‘I was always impressed with his scoring threat,’ said Havertz  in an interview to Bild via SB Nations news.

The midfielder desires to construct something up and then attack. He finds himself motivated that way. However, the title with Chelsea is extremely valuable for him. For Havertz, the opportunity to learn from Lampard however is the biggest reason why he was so keen on joining Chelsea.

Quite a fanboy moment, isn’t it?

Havertz is sure of the fact that he does not feel any kind of pressure due to his £71m transfer fee. He has taken Lampard as an idol and now wants to replicate the same impact Lampard made for Chelsea himself.
