Wright and Hasselbaink suggests Frank Lampard to deploy Timo Werner centrally

Chelsea’s new summer signing forward, Timo Werner has scored eight goals and three assists in just 12 matches across all competitions this season. His form has gained many fans with each appearance that he has made.

Although he is performing well, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Ian Wright said that the former RB Leipzig striker should operate more in the center despite coach Frank Lampard’s plan to deploy him in the left.

It was the third time in a row that Werner has started from the left as they defeated  Sheffield United 4-1 on Saturday. But Werner still managed to score four goals in those three matches.

But the two iconic Premier League strikers, Wright and Hasselbaink, were not convinced as they are of the opinion that Werner will be more effective than what he is currently if he is deployed centrally.

Hasselbaink has described the Chelsea striker as one of the lethal attackers in the Premier League. Werner can be more deadly if he is in the center with Chelsea wingers delivering the ball for him.

“He knows where the goal is. I like him in the center of the square. There he is deadly. If he comes from the left, he doesn’t have the technique to beat players and be clever.”

“He knows where the back of the net is,” Hasselbaink told Premier League Productions (via the Metro).

“I like him in the centre of the pitch. In the centre, that’s where he’s lethal. When he’s coming from the left, he doesn’t have that technique of beating players and being clever. When he plays on that shoulder, he’s lethal.”

Wright backed Hasselbaink’s argument, saying: “I totally agree with that simply because if he was to stay there in the width of the 18-yard box.

“When you’ve got Ziyech and Kai Havertz and Mason Mount, you’ve got all these players, you don’t need to do too much in and around those other places.”

It is of no use for Werne to run along with the wings when the Blues have plenty of talented wingers like Ziyech and Pulisic. It is yet to see how Lampard reacts to these comments and if he truly does play Werner centrally or not.
