Frank Lampard has given an injury update on American winger, Christian Pulisic but also said that he won’t be fit enough to feature in the following game in the Champions League against the French side, Rennes.
Lamaprd has assured the fans that the Chelsea No.10’s injury is minor and will be available soon to feature for the Blues.
Christian Pulisic was in the starting XI against Burnley when a sudden tingle in his hamstring made Lampard force him out of play just before the match in Turf Moor where the team won 3-0 courtesy to Ziyech’s superb performance.
The Chelsea coach called in Timo Werner to play instead of Pulisic and gave the first news about the sudden omission of the star winger.
‘Christian had a scan yesterday, which showed a very minor injury to his hamstring,’ Lampard stated.
‘It’s very minor, which is good, and he’s already back outside. He won’t be fit for tomorrow’s game but we will see after that.
‘It’s a relief for the injury to be on the small side, of course, and it felt that way to Christian. He made the right decision to pull out against Burnley.
‘We are pleased it’s not a serious injury and we hope to have him back very soon, because he’s an important player for us.
‘Muscle injuries are things you have to be careful with and some players who play on the edge and have speed could be more susceptible to them. We are looking at ways to manage Christian, we are all working in the same direction on that front. We all know the talent he has and he’s a very important player for us.’
Lampard’s side will welcome the Ligue 1 side, Rennes to their home ground-Stamford Bridge for a first-ever meeting between the two sides and Lampard will expect his team to continue the good run of form that they have shown in the recent weeks.
Chelsea has four points after playing the first two games in the Champions League group E which includes a major win over the unknown Russian side, Krasnodar and a draw against the Spanish giant, Sevilla. Both teams are tied on the same points and a win over Rennes will give an advantage to the blues.
