Chelsea coach, Frank Lampard is very excited to see a massive boost of form in Hakim Ziyech who is hitting the ground pretty hard in back to back matches.
It was an away game for Chelsea in Turf Moor and yet again a stellar performance was produced by the former Ajax star, Ziyech. He bagged one goal and an assist as he opened the scorecard in the first half with his finish. This helped the Blues defeat Burnley 3-0 and climb up the Premier League table.
Ziyech scored in his previous match against Krasnodar which was his first competitive debut for the Moroccan player and he scored again in this Burnley game to create a record. He became the first player in Chelsea to score goals in his first two games consecutively since 2014 when Diego Costa achieved this.
“I expected a lot of him because I was very aware of his qualities – his eye for a pass, receiving, crossing and making assists but what I’ve seen as well since he’s been here is his personality when he plays.”
“He wants the ball, his work-rate off the ball is very good as well and he’s brought those qualities and given us a big boost. Two games in a few days was a test after being out for so long but it’s been a really good start for him,” said Lampard in his press match conference as per Official Chelsea website.
The Moroccan playmaker’s debut was delayed due to a knee injury he picked up in the pre-season friendly against Brighton. He joined Stamford Bridge after having a successful career at Ajax in a £37 million transfer deal.
Now that he is back with the team, no doubt the coach will be elated as he was after this Burnley game with his magnificent display.
