Chelsea winger, Christian Pulisic was withdrawn from the team’s starting XI before the Premier League face-off against Burnley. As per the BBC reports, Pulisic has got an injury in the pre-match warm-up and Lampard was quick to withdraw him from the squad.
The Chelsea coach replaced him with German striker, Timo Werner in the starting XI as they went on to Turf Moor to earn important three points.
Earlier, the No.10 Chelsea player missed three games of the Premier League for the Blues due to the hamstring injury that he suffered since the FA Cup final. He recovered soon and Lmaprd put him in the starting against Southampton, Sevilla and Manchester United.
The American winger was allowed to play a short cameo in the previous game’s 4-0 win against Krasnodar, a Russian side of the Champions League. He scored in the dying minutes to add Chelsea’s fourth goal of the match in such a short time.
“He felt something on his hamstring. We tried to manage him in midweek, but we’ll see what happens in the next 24 hours. We’re talking minor, nothing serious,”Lampard told.
“Christian had a small sensation in his hamstring, so we had to pull him. He couldn’t play the game and he felt that in part of the warm-up.
“We will have to scan it, he is frustrated as he got fit and we rested him in the week where he comes on and scores. He is so keen to do well for us but we have to scan him and see how it is so I can’t give you a time on that,”he added.
The recent news is surely a concern for the Blues manager as Pulisic is a crucial player for Chelsea and Lampard will need him fit and fine before the important games lying ahead of him. Reports although says that it is a precautionary measure as Pulisic felt something on his hamstring.
