During the beginning of the season, everything looked favourable for Ruben Loftus-Cheek when he was given an onset to the first league game of the season. Gradually he faded from the first team and fell out of favour which compelled him to make a move to go to Fulham on the deadline day.
In a fascinating interview with The Sun, the midfielder discloses that he was not sent against his intention but in fact, he was the mind behind the action.
The report shows how Ruben Loftus-Cheek desires his current season as a loanee at the club, Fulham, goes along with his previous spell at Crystal Palace. He is longing to have his comeback from the injury back on route.
After getting sidelined by an Achilles injury for about 13 months, the 24-year-old is pursuing normal playing time at Craven Cottage. He seems optimistic that his time there would be as productive as the duration he spent at Selhurst Park in the year 2017/18.
‘I really took a lot from that Palace loan,’ said the England midfielder.
‘I had a lot of experience in the Premier League, and obviously, that kick-started my international career.’
‘Hopefully, Fulham can do the same thing, after being out for so long with injury, regain that same feel for the game. This is why I have come here.
‘Those games were crucial for me. If I don’t go to Palace, I don’t make the England team.’
However, in place of kicking his heels on the bench, he chose to be aggressive and pursue a transient move somewhere else.
It is considered to be a very smart and mature strategy. If he could play just like he did at Crystal Palace three years ago, it would be possible that he started to play in the Chelsea team again.
‘This is a platform for me to go and express myself and find that form that was showing a couple of seasons ago. I believe in my ability, and we will see where that takes me.’
‘I still see my future at Chelsea. I believe in my ability 100 percent. This is obviously not a permanent move,’ he added.
It gets clear when Loftus-Cheek emphasized that he would remain loyal to the Blues after he signed a new five-year contract in 2019.
