Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger had some very effective talks with manager Frank Lampard recently. The German defender seemed to be making his debut appearance in this season on Wednesday against FK Krasnodar, the Russian side in the Champions League group stage match.
The Blues have zero ideas about this Russian side who had a 1-1 draw with Ligue 1 club, Rennes in the opening group fixture of UCL.
As ex[ected, the experienced centre-back Thiago Silva has been left out of the 22-man squad for the journey to Russia. That symbolizes that the backline has a place for somebody to obtain their opportunity and perform well in Silva’s absence. It looks like Rudiger will be given a chance to feature in this match.
Chelsea coach, Lampard informed a news conference before the match on Wednesday that he had discussions with Antonio already. He also boasted about their positive relationship at the conference.
“Everything I do, I do for the club and selections and the team, and at the minute sometimes you have to have players out of the squad and it is big news for everybody.
“He is in the squad and in contention to play.” said Lampard as per Sky Sports news.
Rudiger was inspired to make a loan move in the summer transfer window to Paris Saint-German and Tottenham Hotspur. However, the 27-year-old is eager for the trip to Russia, to return to the lineup in place of the absentee, Thiago Silva. This match will be very vital for him and any disastrous performance will surely move him down the pecking order after the likes of Tomori in this season.
The opening Group E match of Chelsea against Sevilla concluded goalless last week. Currently, the club is devoid of any win day in the three games played in all competitions.
