Manager René Girard of France isn’t a popular name in the world football but the fans of Montpellier longingly recollect about him from the memories of the title of Ligue 1in 2011-12 campaign.
It was that sensational season that earned Oliver Giroud, the deserved dignity he has today. This professional player scored 21 goals that helped him gain the position in Arsenal.
The France manager Didier Deschamps never fails to rate Giroud high enough. That might have resulted in him to score more goals than Micheal Platini for France.
The striker has eventually scored 42 goals for the French National team. However, the No. 1 spot is engaged by Thiery Henry with 51 goals under his bag.
According to Rene Girard, Giroud is deserving of more credit than he is actually given for his gameplay. He has also complimented the former striker for replying to his critics with his game and performances.
Rene Girard says, “We speak a lot about foreign forwards, but the one time we have a little Frenchie, who’s polite, good, respectful, and does extraordinary things, there’s a need to find faults.”
“He deserves to be looked at differently. And honestly, he needs to be strong, because he’s sometimes been questioned. He’s always answered, and that’s beautiful.” he expressed via Sport Witness.
Giroud has successfully won five FA Cups, a Europa League, and one world cup, in the meantime. He seems to be keen on competing with Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham for a position in the starting eleven. Although he is 34 already, yet his interest in football, seems to be the same.
