It’s time for Jorginho to fasten his seat-belts at Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho came to the club from Napoli holding the hands of the Italian coach, Maurizio Sarri. The mid-fielder was about to sign a deal for Manchester City before the Blues managed to snatch him away. Chelsea was successful in signing the Italian midfielder and preventing him from joining Pep Guardiola’s team despite there was a chance to play the Champions League in sky blue shirts, unlike the Blues.

In his debut season, Jorginho could win the confidence of the Chelsea faithful. In the following or his second season, Frank Lampard replaced the old Maurizio Sarri, who had a soft corner for Jorginho, to become the Chelsea coach. The Chelsea fans expected that this might close the chapter of favouritism and Jorginho won’t be able to become a key player in Lampard’s team. Surprising everyone, he outshined his compatriots to hold the same position in the midfielder that he held under MaurizioSarri.

Currently, he is the vice-captain of the West Londo club as well. Moreover, he has impressed with his leadership roles as well. It is becoming quite evident that the Italian is well settled at the club and any move at the age of 28 years would be very illogical for his career. It would be best for him to stick with the club as he had done in all these years and commit to the future.

The former Napoli midfielder has turned to 28 years of age. As per the news of the Area Napoli, the club owner wants to reward the defensive wall of his team for staying loyal throughout the previous transfer window. In the wake of Roman Abramovich’s $250 million hefty spendings, he was tipped to sign for top European clubs namely Juventus, and take the exit door from the Stamford Bridge.

Sarri’s union with Juventus was definitely a lure for Jorginho to join them. He was guaranteed to make into the Juventus starting XI while signing with them also meant to get the taste of Serie A title every year as Juventus has won them 9 times in a row. the deal became cold when Sarri was kicked out by the Biaconeris after their elimination from the UCL. Chelsea’s rivals Arsenal and Paris Saint Germain were also interested in signing the Italian. Amidst all these transfer offers, he stayed with the Blues.

By 2023, Jorginho’s current contract with Chelsea is set to expire and that is why the club officials want to sit down with him and start contract extension negotiations. Although the details of the propositions are yet to be revealed to the media and made official, the deal is soon to be finalized with the player.

Alongside the French N’Golo Kante, Jorginho’s presence adds more versatility. He and Kante have been absolutely complementary to each other. He has netted four goals already this season for Chelsea through penalties and shown how good his penalty conversion rate is.

Chelsea’s rumored contract extension will only guarantee to show the peak years of Jorgino’s footballing career. With time, he will gradually get better and better. Although he is not as fancy as Real Madrid’s Luka Modric, his absence is truly felt in Chelsea’s midfield. In other words, he controls the tempo of the match and gives a proper shape to the team.

Jorginho has pretty much settled himself in the Premier League and it is only a matter of time before he unleashes his maximum abilities in the presence and help of the new stars signed by Chelsea this summer.

The former Napoli player’s presence not only helps the team but also helps the young players as well. There’s a lot to learn from the man who has a great understanding of the beautiful game and benefit from his experience. He is a proven leader on and off the pitch and to win prestigious trophies like the league and the UCL, Chelsea will need more than one leader in dire situations.
