Chelsea fans are waiting to see Hakim Ziyech in competitive action for Chelsea. The new attacking midfielder played his first match for Chelsea in the pre-season friendly against Brighton where gave an assist with a fine cross.
It was an immediate impact that he created but in the second half, he was unfortunate to suffer a setback due to a knee injury he picked up. The match ended in a draw but that made him sit in the sidelines for a month until now.
The former Ajax star is a highly rated midfielder who was brought in this summer window to bolster the Chelsea attack with his talent. But the 30-year-old has not made any competitive debut yet. It would be interesting to see how Lampard lines up with his presence in the attack.
In most of the matches, 4-2-3-1 was used by the coach. If Ziyech is inserted in the starting XI, Kante will be instrumental to hold the balance.
Although Lampard didn’t risk him in any match, Ziyech was called for international services where he was seen with a heavy knee strapping. This might be a concern for the Chelsea coach as who wouldn’t want Ziyech to feature as soon as possible.
Despite being unable to play for Frank Lampard’s side yet, Ziyech was selected by his country for their international matches this week as reported by us earlier.
Having Edouard Mendy already picked up an injury, the Chelsea boss will be hoping that his new signing will return without any more issues while being with the international side.
With all the new faces already making some impact, Ziyech is yet to hit the ground running. Time will only reveal how the coach uses his talent to Chelsea’s benefit.
