Chelsea’s September Goal of the Month goes to wingback Reece James

This September brought Chelsea its Goal of the Month against Brighton and that has gone to the English international, Reece James.

The right-back’s goal against the Seagulls was the testament of over 30,000 fans who voted via the official Chelsea website. That itself helped us secure all three points on the Premier League’s opening day.

Reece’s exceptional strike acquired 75 per cent of the absolute vote and that comfortably came out on top. Mason Mount’s goal against West Bromwich and Timo Werner’s first in Chelsea shirt against Tottenham was positioned second and third respectively by the audience. But these two were far below than what James received from the audience.

The wingback was recently called up to the senior England squad and he opened his Premier League account by striking a 25-yard screamer that revived Chelsea’s lead in the opening game of the season.

His mastery of the game is yet to reach its peak and his series of wonder goals are more to come. He scored a stunning equalizer against Ajax last season which is still the talk of the town.

The goals from the men’s, women’s, and Academy team, namely  Pernille Harder’s strike vs Bristol City, Harvey Vale’s goal against West Ham, and Callum Hudson-Odoi’s finish in Chelsea’s exciting recovery draw against West Brom respectively, are nominated as contestants for the last month’s accolade.
