Malang Sarr has joined the famous Portuguese club, Porto on a season-long loan from Chelsea, according to the club’s official website.
The 21-year-old defender joined the Stamford Bridge from Nice in this summer transfer period on a free transfer. But Chelsea coach, Frank Lampard insisted to send him away to some other club on loan so that he can get the top-flight experience.
Initially, it was planned by the Chelsea board to send him to some Premier League club where he could start the matches and get adapted to the new league but then the decision was changed.
The centre-back landed straight away in Porto and will spend the rest of the 2020-21 campaign there. He will develop at the club where many famous footballers have grown up and also be able to play the Champions League this season.
Porto is currently sitting at the third position of their League table after playing three games. At UCL, they are in the group with teams like Manchester City, Olympiacos, and Marseille. The French international will be managed by former Portugal international, Sergio Conceicao who has previously worked in France.
Chelsea has future plans with this young defender as they expect to use him in the future. The defender has featured as a captain from Under-16 to Under-21 levels while also playing in Under-21 Euros, 2019.
