For the UEFA European Championship qualifiers about to come, James was initially named in the England Under-21 squad. The squad had to face Andorra and Turkey but Southgate had some other plan in mind.

James’ recent string of fine performances for Chelsea in the current 2020-21 season has impressed the England coach and eventually been called in the senior team. The right-back has also become a regular starter for Chelsea under Frank Lampard. To top the things, he has also scored a fantastic stunner for his team in the Premier League’s first match of Chelsea against Brighton.

He will join the England National team which comprises of his Chelsea compatriots Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, and Ben Chilwell.

But as per the reports coming off from the FA, three England international players which include left-back Ben Chilwell, and attackers Tammy Abraham and Jadon Sancho have been asked to not join the team.

Their delay has been made as an act of precautions taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This will allow time for the officials in gathering further information on a social gathering where these three players attended and sources say that there was a possibility of COVID patient’s presence.
