Chelsea’s struggles in front of the goal this season have been well documented with the west London giants failing to inspire going forward despite hefty spending in the summer transfer window.
Thomas Tuchel, who has handed the sack from the Chelsea top job early on in the campaign, had brought in the likes of Raheem Sterling and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to provide the extra impetus for his side in the attacking third of the pitch.
Both signings, however, are yet to deliver leaving Tuchel’s successor in the dugout – Graham Potter- with the task of adding firepower to the attacking roster at his disposal when the transfer window reopens for business in the New Year.
With the new co-owner Todd Boehly keen to leave his imprint on Chelsea’s recruitment policy, the American businessman will be sure to deliver his backing to Potter to move in for his desired names on the shopping list come January 1.
Here are 4 strikers we believe can be the answer to Chelsea’s struggles –
1. Harry Kane
The England skipper will take little adapting should he sign for Chelsea with the Tottenham Hotspur talisman one of the top talents in the Premier League.
Manchester City failed to strike a deal with Spurs in their failed pursuit last summer which could come as a lesson to Chelsea and Boehly who would undoubtedly be keen on a player of Kane’s ability to get the goals coming for them.
Kane may be available for a slightly knockdown asking price due to his contract situation which should interest Chelsea and his other suitors in the market.
2. Joao Felix
Chelsea face increasing competition to land their long-standing target Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid who are understood to be open to green lighting the youngster’s exit from the Spanish capital city.
Felix’s mega money transfer to Diego Simeone’s Atletico has borne mixed results with many of the opinion that a move to England’s top flight could see the Portugal international rediscover his red-hot streak in front of the goal.
3. Dusan Vlahovic
A player who has been linked with a move to the Bridge in the recent past is the Serbian dangerman Dusan Vlahovic who was on Chelsea’s radar before he signed for Juventus.
His switch to the Turin outfit from Fiorentina, which went through last January in another big-money deal, has not been what Juventus had expected from the 22-year-old despite him proving to be a threat going forward.
4. Rafael Leao
The AC Milan star has emerged as one of the top attacking talents across Europe and his showings for both club and country has his name linked with a move to Chelsea who are readying a bid for his signature.
Chelsea, however, face competition in their pursuit of the 23-year-old Leao who is also wanted by the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid even as Milan head into contract renewal talks with the player.
